Coles has officially opened its first automated Customer Fulfilment Centre (CFC) in Truganina, Victoria, signalling a major leap in its online grocery services. Located just 20km west of Melbourne’s CBD, the new facility is part of a $400 million partnership with Ocado Group, aimed at modernising Coles’ supply chain with cutting-edge technology.
The 87,000 square metre site boasts advanced robotics and artificial intelligence, allowing for faster and more efficient order processing. It can fulfil over 10,000 customer orders per day, with AI-powered robots able to complete a 50-item order in just five minutes. This innovation will ensure online customers benefit from fresher products, fewer substitutions, and an improved range.
Beyond efficiency, the Truganina CFC has sustainability at its core, featuring solar power, water recycling, and 100% cardboard recycling. The centre also employs over 1,000 workers and operates a fleet of eco-friendly delivery vans. With a second CFC opening soon in New South Wales, Coles is set to transform the future of grocery shopping.
